Frontera Fund Is United Under One Fundamental Mission:

To provide financial support and a sense of community for those seeking abortions in the Rio Grande Valley. We also assist local Rio Grande Valley residents who need to travel to clinics across Texas and beyond for the reproductive care they require.

WHAT’s AT STAKE

SB8 and SB4 essentially banned abortion and deputizes citizens to take the law into their own hands by suing anyone they think is aiding people in accessing abortion.

Since SB8 went into effect, people are traveling 11 times further than they were before and Frontera Fund is spending 6 times more on travel.

Frontera makes abortion accessible in the Rio Grande Valley. 1.3 million people live there and already had to overcome significant barriers to access abortion. Now, they have to get out of state to access abortion and cross border patrol in Texas to do so.

OUR MISSION

To make abortion accessible in the Rio Grande Valley by providing financial and practical support regardless of immigration status, gender identity, ability, sexual orientation, race, class, age, or religious affiliation and to build grassroots organizing power at intersecting issues across our region to shift the culture of shame and stigma.

OUR VISION

We envision a culture in the Rio Grande Valley that supports people of all faiths and political leanings to make the reproductive decisions necessary for the lives they choose to lead without cultural or systemic shame and stigma. We see a Rio Grande Valley that thrives and offers leadership to social justice movements in Texas and beyond, having overcome the trauma of a militarized border and fear of family separation.
